With a perfect record of 18 wins and 2 losses heading into the final weekend, Optic_God secured the Black Ops 7 Ranked Global title — and the $500 top prize — with a dominant display.
When CHAMPSGY's Black Ops 7 Ranked Global ladder opened in early May, few expected one player to dominate as thoroughly as Optic_God — the Georgetown-based IGL who spent the better part of eight weeks methodically dismantling every opponent the ladder threw at him. His 18-2 record heading into the final weekend was the best in the region, and he made sure it stayed that way.
Optic_God's closest competition came from clutchGYKing, who had been quietly building an 14-5 record through the mid-season stretch. The two met in what turned out to be the de facto title match on Friday night, a best-of-three series played on Nuketown and Rewind. Optic_God closed the first map 6-4 in Search & Destroy, then grinded out a 250-211 Hardpoint win on Rewind to effectively end the title race 48 hours before the ladder closed.
What set Optic_God apart was not just his win rate — it was his consistency. His average Search & Destroy score per map sat at 6.2, and he posted a 1.87 K/D across the full season. More tellingly, he only went negative in a single map across 20 series. That kind of floor is rare at any level of play, let alone on a competitive regional ladder.
Optic_God collected the $500 first-place prize from the CHAMPSGY Season 1 prize pool and has already confirmed he will defend the title in Season 2, which opens in September. He told us post-match: "The grind doesn't stop. Every name on that ladder wanted this. I just wanted it more." Season 2 registrations are open now at champs.gy/ladders.
